Birthday boy Johnny Weismuller, Adrienne Ames, Lupe Velez, Rocky, Gary, and Bruce Cabot - Johnny and Lupe, Adrienne and Bruce, and Gary and Rocky were all recently married and were out at the same club one night early in 1934 and this photo was arranged for a magazine. How convenient.

The painting on the wall behind them looks quite splendid, like something form GWTW.

Hi Joe,
Notice that the two ladies, Adrienne and Rocky, are not looking at Lupe. And, Lupe has that errant smerky school-girl look on her that says, " Hah, I've slept with all the men here!!"...
FYI, the only b-i-t-c-h here is Rocky - take it from me!!

Re: *CANDIDS*
Larry, when I saw the image I thought the same thing about Velez. However I didn't realize that Cooper's wife was a b-i-t-c-h. In fact I use to feel for her since her husband was such a b-a-s-t-a-r-d.
If you know what I mean.
Alison, that painting appears to be impressive. Imagine it in color.

Re: *CANDIDS*
Hi Joe,
Yes, Cooper was an A-hole, that's true.... And, who knows the what's and why's of his straying after he married.
But, I'm talking about her social demeanour, her coldness, snobbery - and generally looking down her nose at everyone in town.
She was not liked in Los Angeles; her only friend was Irene Dunne, who was a cold frosty lady also.
I never knew Rocky or Gary Cooper; but I did know Dorothy DiFasso and Rose Douras, who knew Gary quite well, before the wedding!!!!! They hadn't a good word for Rocky.
I also knew Irene 'vaguely' and stayed away from her as much as possible. Judy Lewis and I thought she exuded all the charm & fridgidity of "the wicked witch from Snow White".....
