I adored french actress Simone Simon, she was a delicate, pretty and rare face in cinema, she was adorable
in LAC AUX DAMES,1933, and LA BETE HUMAINE, 1938, as Jean Gabin's love. And of course, she was an uncomparable
CAT WOMAN in the two CAT PEOPLE movies in USA, before returning to France , with LA RONDE, and LE PLAISIR, both by Max Ophüls.
She did her last Appearance in LA FEMME EN BLEU, 1973, by Michel Deville. She lived in Paris, and was rarely seen, keeping herself secret, like Marlene DIetrich or Greta Garbo.

Georges, thanks for your thoughts on the beautiful Simone Simon.
Did you know that her maid revealed that she rewarded men to whom she was attracted with a gold key to her boudoir? Could be true or false.

Joe, thank you so much for that pre-acromegalia photo of Rondo Hatton. What a rare find!

To know his story is to see a man who was a true hero in every sense of the word. A friend of mine whose mother lived in California in the 40s was a neighbor of Rondo's and said he was an incredibly kind and gentle man.

I've read his story, Stone, and he was indeed a gent and a decent human. His second wife realized this and they were a happy couple until he died.

There are some notes about her, who had no child, and never married.Instead, she is known by her best friends as a women of many men...
She had affairs with Tyrone Power, George Gerschwin, Garson Kanin, Jean Gabin and many others. Her at one time maid talked bad about her, and may be this story of kee could come from her..Her last partner was a married milliardaire in France.Pierre Barillet, a very close friend to her, revealed that she was sad ,often, and living reclused , wondering why people did forget her..It's a bit sad, but once is sure, she remained elegant , sophisticated and beautiful til her very last years.

Very Happy Birthday Wishes to Shirley!

I was involved in minor casting in a movie she made up here in Winnipeg called "Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay". Unlike some other movie sets I've been on (working with big name stars), Shirley was very friendly and approachable and did not have layers of buffers between her and the minor caat members. She graciously signed not one but two glossies: one for myself and one for my Media Acting class. I'd only asked for the one for my class but she sweetly said: "Would you like one for yourself?" And she inscribed it "Love & Light".

A gem of a lady!
