Oh, gee, is that photo of Clint Eastwood the essence of young male conceit or what? You know he just believes he is God's gift to women...good thing he's a good director now, 'cause I never really cottoned to him as an actor, much less as alleged prime beefcake on the hoof.

The above is simply an impulsively expressed opinion off the top of my pointy head, and in no way is it intended to cast aspersions on the seminal work of Sergio Leone or Don Siegel, the Dirty Harry movies, the entire oeuvre of Clint Eastwood, or Mr. Eastwood's early displays of narcissism, (or was he simply trying to make a buck?)...

Never would I doubt you, and I promise I'm not now, but that photo of Shelley Winters - when I first saw it, I thought it was of Kate Reid in costume from the Andromeda Strain (1971). I know Kate isn't that well known, but if you have any books with Andromeda Strain discussed (with photos), check it out, and maybe you'll see what I mean.

Moira, your final analysis about Clint Eastwood is a hoot. I like some of his movies although his whisp of a voice gets to me sometimes.

Anne, I know who Kate Reid is and I loved her as Grace in "Atlantic City". I will make it a point to see pictues of "The Andromeda Strain" for her comparison to Shelley Winters.

Myrnaloy, it is sad what happened to starlet Carole Landis.
She had numerous health problems during her life including dysentery, malaria, pneumonia, and depression.

Rex Harrison, who had dined with her the previous night and presumably broke off their relationship, discovered her body the day she committed suicide.

What a nice picture of Nancy Reagan and Jane Wyman even if it was a sad occaison of Maureen Reagan's funeral....
We always hear about the rivalries between movie stars but never the real feelings, as witness Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. I think they ended up as 'unfriendly' but didn't start out that way. Jack Warner probably had a hand in "stirring the pot" there - first by hiring Joan in 1943 and pitting her unwillingly as a rival.
Then in 1962, he would have publicized a feud on the set of "WEHtBJ"but no feud existed then and the movie advanced problem free.
It was only later that the Oscar race launched Bette's fury - furies!!!

The same can be said between Jane & Nancy. Jane always spoke well of Ronald Reagan or not at all.
And, I don't know whether Nancy ever spoke against Jane actually. It was the press & media that hinted at a feud or rivalry. Jane had divorced Ronnie long before Nancy came on the scene and never interfered in their lives, so nancy wouldn't have had any quarrel with Jane as far as I can see.
It's wonderful to see an actual picture of them together as 'sisters in grief' so to speak....
I wonder if Nancy attended Jane's funeral???

I have just gone through all the photo's just beautiful so nice to see so many .I especially enjoyed the one of John Wayne with Peter Fonda and Henry Fonda . Although John Wayne is happy and smiling I can only imagine how ill he was when that shot was taken .He looks very thin.

Larry, there's no doubt that Jane Wyman had class. She was offered mega bucks to write a book about her life with Ronald Reagan and she refused constantly.
Nancy Reagan also has class and both women came together amicably at Maureen's funeral as it should be.
I don't believe that Nancy Reagan attended Jane Wyman's funeral, since she herself is frail.

Mistaken ID's: often while scrolling slowly down through these candids, I try to guess who I'm looking at, especially if the shot's from late-in-life, or unusual in circumstance . . and this time, I mistook Mr. Novarro for Raymond Burr, Ms. Lake for Fay Bainter (say, from 20 years earlier perhaps) and poor old Johnny Sheffield for a more current (but equally geriatric) Richard Harris.
Maybe Johnny should've moved in with Brando . . hey, he's handy at DIY chores, perhaps he could have done something with Marlon's window treatments!
And leaving on a more chipper note, it's nice to see that Bette enjoyed Errol's dog, 'cause later on she'll blow a gasket over his goose!
