No, it's not just you, Phil. Crawford is very tempting in that image. I could just imagine if Clark Gable walked in on her lying there like that. Fireworks!

Hi,
Don't feel sorry for Allen Jenkins!!!
He and his wife were immensely popular at parties and around town in general. They were very good friends with Jack & Ann Warner and Hal Wallis & Louise Fazenda... In fact he was under contract to Warner Bros. most of his career - that's probably where he and Joan Crawford got together for their dance contest.
He's one person I never heard a bad word about; everybody liked him. We should all have as many friends as he did!!
So, he certainly wasn't 'chopped liver'...

Of course it's staged, I've yet to see a Joan picture that wasn't completely self aware. But my gosh is there anyone that photographed better?
