Thanks for all of these, Mongo. John Alexander and Sandy Deacher, especially! Thanks for the great photos. Perfect for my wall of favorite character actors!

Theirs were not the biggest careers, but played integral parts in some of my favorite films.

Oh, Sophia, Baby, do be careful you don't start a chain reaction crack-up 5 miles long!
Now that is a Samaritan stop I would definitely make, and chauffer that woman anywhere! If she doesn't have a flat tire I deserve to give her one!

Mongo, I don't think it's "every day" that I see some very-familiar face, but I'll bet 300 out of 365 has pix of someone I've never matched Name & Face before.

I want Digital Imaging to give me the ability to 'mouse click' on a character in a film and have an IMDB link appear, a little word-balloon or something - give me the name of the actor, or the name of the character or "unnamed" or "uncredited". Just like they're doing with NASCAR races, where we see these little word balloons pointing to various cars.

Of course, since we have trouble getting so many films out of vaults for broadcasting, there's a far dimmer chance to get them remastered into 'pixelating' character IDs! Pixelating. Boy. The Faulkner Sisters had no idea what they were unleashing.

Well, I guess 20 years after his death, I can admit to you all that I was seriously in love with Dick Shawn, although we never met. I thought he was beautiful, and beauty and funny is an irresistible combination for me. He made a lot of movies, most not very good, which didn't really demonstrate what he was all about. His high-strung, slightly addled/druggie/paranoid performance persona is best shown in It's A Mad (etc.) World and The Producers.

However, it was in standup that Shawn was a star, and he was very, very funny. He did conventional standup routines, but often veered into the surreal, very like Jonathan Winters, only more topical. He had a heart attack and died while onstage, the way most performers claim they want to go. The audience thought it was part of the act. Very sad.

I believe one of Shawn's daughters is or was married to John Travolta's brother. Only in Show Business.

I could not let a star with a car go by without adding a shot of Valentino, Joe. Okay, so this is just the chassis he was working on. This was on his birthday in 1926.
