I always thought Clark Gable was a lucky guy to have bagged Carole Lombard, even with his looks.

Re: *CANDIDS*
Hi,
What a very nice picture of Mercedes McCambridge. Nice to see one that shows she was a sweetheart of a lady and not the harridan that her movie career impresses.
She suffers from the same fate as my other friend, Agnes Moorehead - the both played so many nasties that people don't realize that they were both lovely ladies.
Ironically, they both played together on "Bewitched" as opponent witches...

Re: *CANDIDS*
Well, Mongo, if Simone Simon saw that photo of the usually staid Kent Smith when they were making The Curse of the Cat People, I suspect that she might have slipped him one of her legendary gold keys to her boudoir. There are two words for that picture, and I don't normally express myself this way, but:
"Hubba. Hubba."
"Hubba. Hubba."
Re: *CANDIDS*
Hard to believe you're talking 'bout that same actor who so memorably portrayed the posturing, whining, bumbling meathead/martinet Peter Keating in The Fountainhead . . but then, actors must need rise to the rigors of their roles, if they want to keep that rent paid!moirafinnie wrote:

I don't think Charlie Chaplin had the longest legs, he was only 5ft 4knitwit45 wrote:

Legs, legs, legs. Isn't it amazing how they get us around. Ann Miller and Virginia Mayo also had some gorgeous gams...if I remember correctly.

Re: *CANDIDS*
Ohh, that was such an unfortunate late career choice by Errol Flynn! I don't believe that he was actually singing the lovely Nat King Cole version of "When I Fall in Love" that was introduced in this movie, but Errol was probably mooning over Cornell Borchers in Istanbul (1957), which was a slightly better remake of a real turkey, Singapore (1947), a film that was a blot on the résumés of Fred MacMurray and Ava Gardner.
Hmm, I wonder if the late director of "Istanbul", Joseph Pevney talked much about this experience when he discussed his career with Alan K. Rode?
Regarding the Charles Coburn photo, I see Yvonne de Carlo, Spring Byington and Charlotte Greenwood whooping it up in that photo. Anyone else spot someone?
Re: *CANDIDS*
I think Ann Rutherford is on the top, right, Jane Wyman and Alexis Smith at his feet???
Re: *CANDIDS*
I agree with Nancy about Jane Wyman (my, don't zuvembis get around?), and I'd guess further that p'raps we have Roz Russell at 1 o'clock, and maybe Ruth Hussey at 3?
By the way, as for Stan & Ollie's pooches: on the left- mostly Pomeranian, on the right- mostly Bernese/Swiss Mountain something.
Also - though felines aren't a specialty of mine, I'm fairly certain that the African predator that Burt's stroking is a cheetah, and not a leopard, as the title of the promoted film might suggest . . but then, as I recall, The Leopard was a period piece about 19th century Italian politics . .
Hmmmmm . . .
