Alan Mowbray's book, Up from Central Park is one of the best autobiographies I've read recently, full of hilarious anecdotes but also laced with some seriousness. Thanks, Moira, for having mentioned this some time ago. It's so rare to read a high quality, entertaining book nowadays. The book is available from several sites like ebay and Amazon, and is also available in Kindle form.

Happy Birthday, Alan Mowbray! I wonder where that piano ended up?

Stone, I too thought that Grant Williams should have went further in his career. In looks he was up there with Tab Hunter and Troy Donahue. He left us much too young.

Wendy, thanks for the heads up on the Mowbray book.

A BIG H.B. to L.Q. -- one of the nicest guys in the business!

And best birthday wishes as well to two truly luscious ladies: Jill St. John and a gal I had a crush on for many years after watching her opposite Elvis in "Love Me Tender": Miss Paget.

Stone, my big crush on Debra Paget was in the movie "Bird of Paradise" in which she was gorgeous:

Five years ago, Phyllis Diller visited The View, and discussed her friends, her paintings, and her early struggles:

Joe, the photo of Spencer Tracy with his Irish Setter is the most beautiful photo I have ever seen of Tracy. Just lovely!
Thank you.

Christy

I agree about Spence and the Irish Setter. Seeing a young, casual Tracy in color makes him startlingly alive.

Joe, your photos of Richard Quine struck a chord with me today after reading about Tony Scott. Susan King of the LA Times wrote a piece in today's edition on five directors who also took their own lives. Quine was sadly among them.
