from the angle of the shot, it looks like 5 people are on one long stretch limo of a horse!
You mean, like this? :)

Another double dose of The Train Robbers.

Ben is obscured by John Wayne in this one. Oh well.

It's John Wayne's birthday on May 26 and *sniffle* I'm not going to the birthday celebration this year but I am celebrating on the Ben webpage. ;) Check out the new banner pic and the quote. Actually I had another quote by Ben about John Wayne I wanted to use but dang, I can't find the article it was in. I plan to keep on looking and will add it if I can find it.

Two more Train Robbers pics.

Here's the last Train Robbers photo -- for now, at least. There are several more out there I hope I can collect someday, including a great one of Ben and John Wayne.

Love the text on the snipe!

Here's a lobby card from Tex (1982). I'm sorry I haven't posted screencaps in a while, I actually have screencaps all ready to go from War Drums and The Greatest, but I haven't had time to concentrate on doing my little write-ups for either one. Hopefully I can work on those this weekend and get the screencaps up next week. I have something nice for John Wayne's birthday on Saturday and finally the "something special" I promised a while back will be ready for Memorial Day on Monday. :)

Who is that adorable young lady? If she's underage, I take it back!

The young lady is Meg Tilly, who plays Ben's daughter. She was 22, so you're safe, RedRiver! ;) She was playing a high schooler, though.

You can find my screencaps of Ben's scenes from Tex here: http://benjohnsonscreencaps.shutterfly.com/movies/22804

The thing is... I just looked at the Tex screencaps myself and I can't find a scene like the one in the lobby card. So either I missed something or the lobby card scene was cut from the film. I will review the movie this weekend and see if I missed a scene. Wouldn't be the first time.

It's John Wayne's birthday, so today's post has something with the Duke... and Ben of course. :)

This is a German program for She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.

Hi, Sue Sue! I went to the John Wayne Birthday Celebration last year. The theme last year was the Cavalry Trilogy, so the main attractions were 7th Cavalry re-enactors, and Claude Jarman, Jr. (who played Wayne's son in Rio Grande). I did a lot of traveling last year, what with the TCM fest, the JW birthday, and the Ben Johnson festival in Pawhuska, OK. Speaking of the latter, they still don't know if they're going to have it this year, but if they do, it will be in late July. Stay tuned and all that.
