Same actor, similiar roles begining and end of career

Post by stuart.uk »

Sorry if this is hard to understand, but I'm thinking about actors or actresses that when younger played roles similiar to older ones they played late in their careers. Meaning, even though the characters were different, it was almost the same person

Cary Grant played a secret agent in Notorious and a more senior one in Charade. Could you say it was an older version of the earlier film

Gordon Jackson played a young war time secret agent Against The Wind, then nearly 30-years later played ex army/secret agent who played the head of intelligence department CI5 in tvs The Professionals

In the movie and tv show in the 70s The Sweeney, Dennis Waterman played Detective Sargeant George Carter. It's been said in the current running cop show New Tricks that Watermans' retired Sargeant Gerry Standing that he's an older version of Carter.

John Wayne's John B Books in The Shootist was a peace officer as well as gunfighter when younger, so what about his John T Chance in Rio Bravo and Cole in El Derado as younger versions of the Shootist character

Bette Davis played an actress in Dangerous in the mid 30s, could she have grown into her Character of Margo in All About Eve
