I was saddened to hear about the passing of Martha Hyer, not realising she had died nearly a month ago.
I remember being surprised that the young blonde actress I remembered from the 60s, was already playing adult roles in the late 1940s in films like Rustlers.
Martha in Houseboat, Ice Palace and Some Came Running played women unlucky in love. She also made at least 2 British movies, First Men On The Moon with Edward Judd and Lionel Jeffries and Crossplot in what was Roger Moore's first post Saint movie.
However, I suppose I remember her most fondly is as John Wayne's love interest in Ther Son's Of Katie Elder, even though she was a bit young for the role, as Wayne talks about knowing her in his childhood
Martha Hyer RIP
