How about a shout out to poor old Cobby. Yeah, he was a weasel, a small time operator with a spine of taffy, and a
stoolie, but he did put Dr. Riedenschneider in touch with Emmerich, which got the whole plan started. And compared
to some of the other guys he wasn't that bad. Hopefully after he serves a few years, he'll be back in the bookie business,
allowing suckers to place bets on slowpokes.

I guess it all matters what you say and who you say it to. No doubt a serious verbal threat to a specific
person might get one into trouble. I think there still might be a few places where cussing in public is a
misdemeanor. **** that ****.

I just watched the 1963 TV version. Not bad, IMO.

At one moment in the story, Svengaliesque director Loui Zakin (a Satanic Alfred Drake) barks orders for dressing his "Trilby": Elsie Brinkmann (Tuesday Weld):

"You, get to Jean-Louis! I want him to dress her -- and make no mistake, it will always be in white! . . . For Friday, the back . . . will beeee . . . like this (drawing a U-shape with his hands on Elsie's back) . . . If you can't get it ready by Friday, let him refit one of the Rita Hayworth . . . uhh, one of the Kim Novak things, right?"

Oh my God, lol, is that an actual quote or is that some of your creative genius, Millstone? Does he actually mention Kim Novak?

Couldn't agree more about DOG DAY AFTERNOON. Talk about fast! Not one dull moment. Grabs you right from the get go and hangs on tight.
