Strange Woman

Post by ken123 »

I fell asleep while watching his Hedy Lamarr film clinker, any opinions. Btw did Hedy change her hair color in order to look like the gorgeous Joan Bennett ?

Oh no.....Check out this out Ken, it is here in "Trade Winds": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0030888/ where La Bennett changed her hair color to be the brunette she was deep down.

I saw the last half an hour of "The Strange Woman" and boy oh boy...was Hedy hateful. It was disconcerting for me to put together her beauty with the dastardly things she was doing. She got Louis Hayward to kill his father so the two of them could be together...and then she wouldn't let him in the house b'cuz he killed his father. George Sanders wanted to break off his engagement with Hillary Brooke and wanted to tell her. So there's Hedy, jumping the gun and gleefully delivering the news herself to the poor jilted fiancee.

I see I've got to catch this movie from the beginning!!

CineMaven,
I was just kidding about Hedy stealing Joan's hair color. I knew MsBennett was a blond and that is was in Trade Winds that Joan became a brunette. Actualy in Stange Woman Hedy did show that see COULD act, and Woman is not as bad as I indicated ( cliker ) in my opening remarks.

Speaking of woman actesses wasn't Rhonda Fleming misused by Hollywood. She was great in SPELLBOUND & OUT OF THE PAST. Any further comments on MsFlemming or other misued ladies of the screen ?

Ken, funny enuf...I knew you were kidding. You're a classic film buff, so I know you would know that.

Sadly enuf...the little that I saw I'm afraid Hedy's acting kind of jarred me. And I say this painfully b'cuz I am a big fan of hers. The make-up on her looked kabuki-like, and I couldn't help wishing I could see another actress do all the evil machinations she was doing. I've got to see the movie from the beginning.

Hedy was usually a little understated in her screen appeareances, but she always was a beautiful woman. :D

Hedy Lamarr's beauty is one of the immutable laws of nature.
