The National Film Preservation Foundation site has a number of restored U.S. silent films from the archives of New Zealand and Australia. Each film has notes about the production and most are presented silent, without music.

Be sure to check out Won In a Closet, a film starring the adorable twenty-one-year-old Mabel Normand. It is also the second film she directed.
