Our August Guest Star: Charles Tabesh of TCM

Postby Lzcutter » July 24th, 2009, 12:28 pm

For all of us who are suffering the dog days of summer, here's something wonderful (I hope) that will shake off our blues and get our minds (or at least mine) off the hot weather!

The Silver Screen Oasis is pleased to announce that Charles Tabesh- Senior V.P. of Programming at Turner Classic Movies, will our August Guest Star.

Mr. Tabesh has been with TCM since 1997. His duties include programming over 350 movie titles a month including the Race and Hollywood annual festival, Summer Under the Stars and the 31 Days of Oscar. He and his team coordinate the monthly programming and the acquisition selections.

Mr. Tabesh is instrumental in leading TCM’s ongoing commitment to film preservation and appreciation.

Mr. Tabesh will be visiting with us and answering questions via posts from Monday, August 3rd through Wednesday, Aug. 5th.

Wonderful!

But wait... what am I going to do with all these feathers? And all that tar? Alison's not around to use 'em. And this guest obviously wouldn't deserve them. Darn... where's April lately? Anyone have an idea if cute blondes would look good in 60 kajillion feathers?

April will be back soon. I think cute blondes look good in anything.

Chris, I think I'll use that logic when I approach her on this idea. Normally, she's totally negative. I can just hear her complaining and moaning - "Won't hot tar burn? Won't it stick to my skin and be painful and dangerous to remove? Won't people make fun of me?"

She's SOOOO negative. I swear... she never lets me have any fun!

Just a friendly reminder that Charlie Tabesh, aka TCMProgrammr, will be joining us beginning tomorrow morning.

I hope everyone enjoys having him with us and that we all have a good time!

Oh yay!! This is wonderful news! I feel like I missed a lot of good stuff while away. It's amazing how addictive TCM is. I was talking to a lady in Paris who bemoaned the fact that in France they seldom air old classics anymore and how much she envies us here in the states for having TCM. I have to admit I suffered major old-movie withdrawal, and even though I brought along a little portable dvd player with several discs, it wasn't the same.

Evil Ollie---I slathered on so much suntan lotion while away, I don't think the tar will stick. :P

Ladies:

Can you get in from the main thread to post a question? Is the trouble only through the link in this thread?

The link worked for me is why I am asking. If you can't get in either way let me know if you have a question and we'll get Jon on it.

I'm having the same problem. It says "You are not authorized to read this forum." But I also see that Lynn was over there the same time I was, so maybe she's doing something . . .

I believe that this issue is fixed now and anyone should be able to view the forum and post there.

It seems that it is so long since starting a new forum here, the tweaking has changed a bit along with our lovely software. I apologize and thank you all for your patience.
