Do you have a favorite line from a movie?

As many of you have undoubtedly noticed, our inspiring new Tech Admin, Lomm, has already created something we have longed for so long--a new banner with rotating images of our classic favorites. Another feature that we can now do readily (and that many of you have undoubtedly noticed) is that we can now feature a different quote at the top of the main page of the SSO.

If so, please join us in choosing one to appear at the top of our site's page. We'll be featuring a new movie quotation in the spot on our banner that currently reads "Nobody's perfect" from Some Like It Hot (1959). We only ask that you keep it relatively brief (two sentences or less, ideally), identify the film it came from, and join us in having fun with this idea. Please post your suggestions in this thread and we'll try to include as many as possible over time.

Need some inspiration? Look no further than the thread of a few months ago entitled, "Favorite Quotes" or this compendium of Favorite Film Quotes.

My suggestion would be:

"With all my heart, I STILL love the man I killed!"

---"The Letter" ( 1940 )

The Women 1939

"All you need to start an asylum is an empty room and the right kind of people."
My Man Godfrey 1936

"Walter, you're wonderful, in a loathsome sort of way."
HIs Girl Friday

"Who wouldn't like to atone for the sins of themselves, and the world, if it could be done in a hammock with ropes, instead of on a Cross, with nails?"
Night of the Iguana

"Bill's thirty-two. He looks thirty-two. He looked it five years ago, he'll look it twenty years from now. I hate men."
All About Eve

I got a million of 'em...

There are a million of them, but to keep it simple, I'll join Moraldo in a HIS GIRL FRIDAY salute:

Walter, you're wonderful, in a loathsome sort of way.

or

He looks like that fellow in the movies - Ralph Bellamy.

Hi,

All the above lines are great and I wouldn't vote against any of them.

But, I still love Myrna Loy's delivery of: "What's that man doing in my drawers?"!!!!!!!!

"Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!"

Charles Coburn repeats this line many times in the brilliant George Stevens' comedy "The More the Merrier" (1943)

OK, for this one I am just going to go down the thread from the first reply, I think. The longer it gets, the more time passes and we forget what we posted and when, so it becomes a surprise again. :) So today it becomes "With all my heart, I STILL love the man I killed!"

For both pictures and banners - I would leave them up for at least 10 days and even better two weeks for that everyone can have a chance to see them. Otherwise, I would be fine for 1 week at Lomm's decision ...

Clearly, this is going to be a lot of fun. Some great suggestions already, and today's gem is a prime example. Be sure to include the "in my drawers" gag real soon.

I have no problem with daily, weekly or whatever changes. Maybe some others will respond with their thoughts. Also, I don't know how much effort is required to change the banners, so that might play a part in deciding how often to do it.

You like "relatively brief"? My favorite that sums up the entire film with-minimum-wording is from The Graduate: "Plastics."

If quote and response are acceptable, I offer the Mae West item below.

Changing the quote takes literally about a minute, so we can change it frequently. Since we really don't have a lot of traffic, 4 or 5 days seems like a good number, so everyone can see it.

Glad to know changing the quote is not time consuming. I think 4-5 days sounds perfect.

Bet it takes more than a minute to change the photos banner!

Change, no. Create, yes, more than a minute. :)
