Cimarron (1931) re-visited

A story of Yancey Cravat (Richard Dix) and his wife Sabra (Irene Dunne) set against the early history of Oklahoma from the first land rush to 1930. The film was awarded 3 Oscars, and the stars were both nominated for for best actor/actress Oscars. This was Richard`s only nomination, and for Irene the first of her five nominations.

While watching this I thought that this would have been only a couple generations ago. I found that my grandfather (1840—1905) was certainly around for part of the time, (Not in Oklahoma of course), and that Dad was around for most of it, his birthday being just thirteen days after the first land rush.
