I don't have a question but I did want to stop in and say how I am looking forward to this film and can't wait to see it. Hedy Lamarr is a fascinating person to me. I guess I do have a tangential question...did you happen to catch Hedy's recent usage on Legends of Tomorrow (played by Celia Massingham)? The episode was set in her early Hollywood era, and focused on her beginnings as a Hollywood star, as well as featuring her scientific know-how helping the Legends get out of their situation. :)

Hi! Thanks for the question... Hedy says on the tapes we found that her favorite subject in school was Chemistry. So we know that she enjoyed science. She left school at fifteen, however, which was typical for women in her social stratum in Vienna at the time. She went to design school at 15 and spent her spare time trying to become an actress. It’s hard to know exactly why she shifted from science to acting, but I sense from her letters and articles that were written about that time period that she became enamored or acting because she was so beautiful she began to have a tremendous amount of power with her looks. She was distracted and hypnotized by that power and she wanted to see where it would lead her.

I haven’t seen the legends of tomorrow episode yet but I’m thrilled it’s come out now and helped to build excitement about her story!

Regarding Fritz Mandl and his ties to fascism, it’s very hard to know what Hedy was aware of in 1935 when she married him. She was only 19 years old and she was interested in acting so I don’t think she was very aware of the precarious political situation this marriage would lead her into...

Replying to : How do you feel that Hedy's friendship with Robert Osborne exemplified other close relationships? What can you tell us about his visit with you? Were you surprised that he wanted to share his stories about Hedy? And did you find any photos of Robert Osborne with Hedy Lamarr?

Bob Osborne gave me his photos of Hedy Lamarr .. he was incredibly open and willing to do whatever I needed to help the viewer capture a full sense of his friend Hedy. He confessed to me that he felt bad how their friendship ended... as her drug use increased she became harder to deal with and he eventually cut her off and he was really keen to make that up to her. He came for two interviews with us which were over a year apart. The first one he was jovial and energetic and towered over me at 6”2 or so..the second one he showed up in a wheelchair looking tiny and frail. He said he had a cold but he was actually freezing and needed blankets and hot drinks to keep warm. He did a half hour interview at that time and then I cut it off, alarmed at his pallor and exhaustion. But he wanted to tell me hedy always wanted to make her mark on the world, and she did make her mark - it was the thing she did for other people that she’ll be long, Long remembered for. I still can’t believe that he died only two weeks after giving us that moving interview. He was an extraordinary man.

Hi Alex!!
Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions for us during this amazingly busy time of Festival hopping and press interviews!
What has surprised you most about your journey?
First, in researching and shooting the film?
Second, on the Festival circuit?

Mel Brooks participated in an interview for Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story. Can you share with us how that came about?

In this enticing trailer for your film, Hedy makes that comment that "You have to make yourself heard."

Do you feel that you have made Hedy's accomplishments heard on a much larger scale that she could have ever imagined in her lifetime?

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for dropping by this weekend! I was wondering if there are any segments on your cutting room floor that you were wishing could have been included in the final cut?

Also curious about the distribution status. How widely will this be released to theaters? I was unable to attend the closing night of San Francisco's Jewish Film Festival last July. Any chance it will be making another round to Baghdad-by-the-Bay?

Good question, Moraldo.

If Alexandra Dean cannot respond to posted questions this evening, she will drop by as soon as it is convenient as she has a screening of Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story in L.A. Thank you all for your wonderful questions.

Last night was the West Coast opening party for Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story sponsored by Chateau Marmont, which was a great success, and Alexandra Dean is obviously very busy right now, but will return when she has a break in her hectic promotional schedule.
