Crazy, man!

Who directed that? Terry Gilliam? :D

I thought Lee had a really surprisingly strong voice, and although she's no Gwen Verdon, she danced OK.... so why stretch the song out with the cartoons?

BTW, who was Joe? He looked very familiar.

His name is Jerry Lanning. I was watching The Dick Van Dyke Show last night on METV, and the episode was about some teen dance fad called The Twizzle, which this handsome young man sang and danced. The plot also had him sing another tune - This Nearly Was Mine (from South Pacific) and he blew me away. So I looked him up on Google, and then found some groovy clips of Damn Yankees with him and Lee Remick. Anyway, turns out he was the adult Patrick in the original Broadway cast of Mame with Angela Lansbury. He did some other stuff on Broadway too.

Here he is on the Dick Van Dyke Show:

Oh, forgot to mention, a comment posted on YouTube for the Damn Yankee clips says Jerry Lanning hooked up with Gwen Verdon after she split from Bob Fosse - interesting!

Wow! he's great! I see he had an album out. I wonder if my parents had it or something?

I must have seen his name on the Mame soundtrack, because that's familiar too. I think I must have seen him on the Guiding Light or something... I can't remember The Twizzle episode, so it can't be because of the Dick Van Dyke Show.

I watched that episode last night. Great episode for setting out how the old Entertainment World had to confront the onslaught of the new Entertainment World. And just a great song. My favorite version:

Wow!!! Lee Remick as a brunette. She looks good. And she has a good voice too. Moved well. I think she might've given Janet Leigh a run for her in "BYE BYE BIRDIE." The young actor, is very attractive. And a strong baritone Broadway voice. Hmmmm, I wonder what Laura Petrie was thinking while she listened to him sing.

Yes, Lee has a very good voice - I didn't know she could sing! Impressed me enough to want to share the video. Now, that cheesy Pop Art TV production they were in ... (did you all catch Phil Silvers at the end of the clip?)

Lee Remick sang on the 1980s FOLLIES IN CONCERT, in the part played by Alexis Smith on Broadway. She was very good.
