Essentials Jr.

Postby MikeBSG » June 9th, 2008, 1:31 pm

I watched "20 Million Miles to Earth" with my children last night (ages 15 and 12.) They enjoyed the movie, but then they already knew who Ray Harryhausen was.

On the one hand, I'm glad that TCM is doing this. On the other hand, the format this summer seems bland. I actually enjoyed Tom Kenny as host most of the times I saw him last summer.

What bugged me about last night was that the two hosts really didn't have anything to say about the movie except that Harryhausen is the name of the nightclub in "Monsters Inc." Indeed, the context they provided (that 50s sci-fi horror is really about fear of the atomic bomb and Communism) doesn't really apply in the case of "20 Million Miles to Earth."
