That does sound like it was a lovely house, the style of architecture from that time is truly beautiful
Synnove, it was a lovely house. It was run down when we bought it, but we did a lot of work--re-finished floors, gutted (down to the latticework) the kitchen and bathrooms and so on. Unfortunately, it wasn't in the best neighborhood and I wanted a better school for the kids. It's too bad you really can't move a big house like that, 'cause I would have considered it.
We've been gone for about 10 years and I drove by a while ago. Mistake. The place hadn't been taken care of--needed painting, the picket fence was broken and my flowerbeds were overgrown. Very sad.
