FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATING UNIVERSAL'S 100 YEARS
Re: FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATING UNIVERSAL'S 100 YEARS
Some would call these three of the very best horror films ever made. I'm a little cold on Mummy movies. But the other two? Wow! Sad and sensitive. Poetic and touching. And, oh yeah. Scary! These are sensational movies. (I guess I said that.)

Go on and say it again Red. And I'll join you. These are sensational movies. "The Mummy" is a fine piece of storytelling and filmmaking as you'll see from the 30's. Now when we get to the Mummy's ghost, hand, tomb ( and his other extremities and possessions ) they just turn into good "B" movie fun for me.RedRiver wrote:...Sad and sensitive. OK Gang - The WEST COAST takes over celebrating Universal's Centenary at The Stanford Theatre next week; first up for me will be Margaret Sullavan's film debut in ONLY YESTERDAY (1933)!

Re: FILM FESTIVAL CELEBRATING UNIVERSAL'S 100 YEARS
Jez, I hope you'll let me know if there is a good print of Only Yesterday. The only ones I've seen have been terrible collector's copies of copies--though Margaret Sullavan managed to captivate me anyway.

I saw ONLY YESTERDAY this past week; I've posted a write-up under the DRAMA thread.
