Hot Dog, everybody, it's time for a rockin' Record Party tribute to the salad days of rock and roll--with special attention paid to the one and only Alan Freed (My Hero, My Avatar), the moondoggin' deejay who coined the phrase rock & roll! These wigflippers are here to save the day!

Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers "I'm Not A Juvenile Delinquent"

Gene Vincent & the Blue Caps "Rip It Up!"

Beatnik chick recites a beatnik poem from HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL!

A hot brew of 50s rock & roll movie trailers, including Alan Freed's ROCK, ROCK, ROCK starring Frankie Lymon, Chuck Berry & Tuesday Weld!! Yes, it's Tuesdy, Tuesday!

Major Bonus Attraction!! Scenes from the awesome 1978 biopic AMERICAN HOT WAX starring Tim McIntyre as Alan Freed! Also starring Jay Leno & Fran Drescher--my favorite rock & roll movie ever! Check it out!

Please let me chime in with a song that, while not a particular favorite, brings so much memories of my childhood:

Hey, thanks for bringing "Soley Soley" to the Record Party! What a sweet little pop ditty--and one I'd never heard before! Consider yourself welcome at Dewey's Record Party any old time, night or day!

Here's a little pop tune from 1969 that it reminds me of...

Thanks for the welcome Dewey! I must say that I've enjoyed your musical choices as well as those of the other contributors like Ben, Judith et al.

BTW, great catchy pop tune from 1969! That's my kind of music.

From one of my very, very, very favorite Pop Groups of all time (I have all of their official CDs, save most of those especially released for the Japanese market). I really can't get enough of Corrine and Andy:

Waiting Game by SOS (Swing Out Sister):

Wow!! Now you've REALLY made my night! As you've probably noticed, I've dropped a couple SOS tunes into the Record Party mix recently; they're one of my all-time faves too! Last summer my wife and I and some of our friends went to see them when they appeared here in San Francisco. A fantastic show from beginning to end!!

So, just to keep the SOS vibe alive for a little while longer....

Great minds think alike

You're the first person I meet who's a SOS fan (save for my wife). I guess you also like Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick, Lisa Stansfield, Barry White, Diana Krall, The Mamas and the Papas et al?

I don't know about you, gang, but I could sure go for a little mid-day Mick Jagger break! Let's spin a couple of early chartbusters here at the old Record Party!

Count me in for the Diana Krall fan club!
Not only does Mrs. Costello have a bona fide million-dollar voice, she's mighty easy on the eye (before, during & after pregnancy)!

Fernando was right when he said: "I guess you also like Burt Bacharach..."

You bet your bippy I like Burt Bacharach! To prove that very point, here comes a mighty mix of tunes penned by the mighty Mister B himself...

Herb Alpert "This Guy's In Love With You"

B. J. Thomas "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head"

The Carpenters "Close To You"

Isaac Hayes "Walk On By"

Diana Krall "The Look of Love"
