The only thing I knew about for sure in your delightful list was the potato museum in Belgium. Thanks for making me smile with your discoveries.

Allow me to second the "Thanks," you certainly brightened the day for me. (And wish I'd thought of that Igor crack first!)

Can't help wondering what the kids of today will be like as grownups, having spent most of their lives learning internet tidbits instead of how to read, write and add. Better they turned off their cellphones and watched a good old black and white Frankenstein movie!

A ghost is a soul with no body.

My fiance has become thoughtful. I suspect he is attempting to find an acceptable opening for a story about one person's ghost confronting their zombie.
Where is Dr. F when you need him? Bet he and Igor could put the two together and get one and a half.

An estimated twenty thousand emus invaded a farming district in 1932.

The Australian Army dispatched experienced soldiers with machine guns to destroy them.

The Emus won.

My favorite part of that story of the emu victory: "Meredith's official report noted that his men had suffered no casualties". :)

I knew it but I was reminded how little I have to say about anything in my house.

Some of you know that last week both my car and our dog died. For the first time since early in our marriage we are without a dog and sharing a car. The Bride insists I buy a new car. Even the lowliest of new cars seems to me out of our budget. Me being the practical one is aiming a little less high. She is being insistent.

Having discussed prior to our dog's passing about being dogless for a while I thought we had agreed to wait until after Christmas. So, with a goodnight kiss I was promptly informed that after getting a car, a trip to our family reunion she was getting another dog.

I not only can't win there are times I'm not even in the game.

I knew it I had to be reminded of it.

Hilarious! If most husbands were accepting as you of their fate, marriages would last longer.

( So sorry to hear about your dog though. )

Thanks to both of you for the kind thoughts.

I've done pretty well on the marriage front. Only one and it has lasted, so far, thirty years.

She did. She was almost 16. That is very long for a dachshund.
