No loot, but am enjoying a very relaxing four-day-weekend off from work.
And after working Mon - Wed I'll have another four-day-weekend off for the new year. :D 8)

So... what loot did y'all get? :)

Some great CDs including T-Bone Burnett's latest production, "The Basement Tapes Continued", the 7th season of "Mad Men" (part one) and as always, Fiestaware! This year I received a place setting of Scarlett. Great for summer holidays and holiday parties!

I LOVE Fiestaware and MrCutter has long indulged my love for it. I am one lucky lady.

I hope that all are well and happy at this joyous time of year.

I have posted this video before but I believe it is so very appropriate for this time of year and it is so very innocent that it steals my heart:

phpBB [video]

The first thirty seconds are annoying but the episode is quite charming. It is not in English but I feel that translation is not necessary because characters are so very expressive. Only note which might aid in understanding one part is that Snow Maiden dresses in blue and is grand-daughter of Father Frost and helps him to distribute presents.

I hope all here enjoy safe and innocent holidays!

Thank you for sharing that animation, Masha. It's very well done, but I must admit I don't like that bratty little kid, whether she wears pink or blue. Still fun to watch, though. :D

One of my favorite 'holidays of the season' is AM's birthday, which is coming up this Sunday. I'd like to share a video here which I feel shows off her talent at staged reading, one of the loves of her life:

PT, you are so right! Her birthday is almost here. If she were still here, I guess her Christmas party would be kicking off the season. :D Wouldn't it have been marvelous to have the privilege of attending? Image

I love her readings. She has such talent. :)

Here we are at Christmas eve, and the temperature in my home town is currently 70 degrees. I do love an El Niño winter. It's putting me in mind of a Christmas vacation to a tropical island. Perhaps some calypso music would be appropriate:

Santa is currently on his way from Jerusalem to Cairo:

. . .and still 9,000km away from me. He's delivered 4.2 billion gifts so far.

Good luck everyone! :P

As my childhood friend is in the dining room wrapping the gifts that Jon got me (and the cakes are cooling for dessert waiting to be frosted), I get a moment to wish everyone here at the Oasis the merriest of Christmases and I hope everyone has a Holly, Jolly Holiday season!!!!

Merry Christmas, everyone. The sweet chaos of family & friends has been endearing and overwhelming this year, but here's hoping each person reading this knows peace and joy today and everyday, if only for a moment.

Another Christmas is over and I hope all enjoyed it. My son and his wife came to Cairns for a visit for ten days. They were unable to stay till Christmas day and flew back to KSA on 23rd. I spent Christmas day at my daughter`s place, with her husband, her daughter and husband and two of my great grandchildren, who spent most of the day in the pool. As always presents were exchanged and it was an exciting day.

But it was on Christmas eve that I received the best present ever--a phone call from Ann Blyth.
