Re: Classical Music
I also played piano for different solo and ensemble performers, and for a time was the pianist for a large big band. These Francis Poulenc pieces are lovely. I’m happy to be acquainted with some of his works as I had not known of him before. Thank you, Swithin and txfilmfan!

VLADO is perfect, he worked with RAVEL himself and was the original and most insightful of any RAVEL interpreters.laffite wrote: ↑February 20th, 2023, 12:19 am ...For whatever missteps there were, it comes across quite fine. This Ravel piano piece is on a higher plain for me.. It is so intricate that it does not get "memorized" by the mind, anticipation of what comes next is not readily forthcoming, all of which gives the piece legs. All music is contemplative to some degree, this more so on average, methinks. Thanks for posting this.

Re: Classical Music
Sometimes I listen to organ music. This one is particularly good:
E. POWER BIGGS Bach- Toccata & Fugue; Passacaglia & Fugue; Pastorale; Prelude & Fugue

Re: Classical Music
I love this movie and seen it three or four times. This is the second appearance of this scene on this thread where the original music is not used. The first one employed Suite No. 2 by Shostakovitch. The original as I recall was understated and effective because it gradually increased in intensity per the underlying drama occurring at those very moments. This version of the story (2012) may displease some due to a clearly atypical stylistic mode that occurs throughout. As for me, I accept it without reservation. I enthusiastically recommend this movie.

HA! I put together a similar list, although not as long, in order to prove that without realizing it most people are more familiar with classical music than they know or are willing to admit.
I'll have to go back and make sure I put that clip in my list of "favorites"
I appreciate it and thank you Laffite. You always did post good stuff.

Re: Classical Music
Well, must be something I've never watched as it didn't make me think of any TV show I've ever seen.
Not like THIS one might.

Re: Classical Music
Pay heed to the early seconds, music underneath the voice over. I didn't realize this program was quite so old as this.
As to yours, no idea ; but the tune sounds familiar.
