Tyrone Power also served in World War II with great distinction as a Marine pilot, flying cargo planes all over the Pacific Theater.

Remembering Carole Landis today who spent more time visiting troops during World War II than any other Hollywood star. She nearly died from malaria she contracted while traveling overseas.
quote: "We had a wonderful time everywhere overseas. But it was hard. For five months we never gave less than five shows a day. It was too cold to sleep nights and there wasn't water enough to take a bath. I had to do my own washing. And I ate more sand and fog, than food".

I never knew this, thanks, Joe for mentioning it.

I'll always remember Madeleine Sherwood as the no-nonsense mother superior in Sally Field's sitcom "The Flying Nun". She was superb as well as the completely unpleasant, ever-pregnant daughter-in-law in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" (1958). Such two absolutely different characters demonstrate that she was an actress of range.

Fernando, among others films I've enjoyed Miss Sherwood in were "Sweet Bird of Youth" as Miss Lucy and "Resurrection" (fine film) in which she was wonderful.

I had always thought that Joan had been Dick's first wife and June Allyson his second wife.

Fernando, Dick Powell's first wife was a woman named Maude Maund and they were married from 1925 thru 1927.

Indeed it was, Kingme.
