The movie "Sophie's Choice" broke my heart. I couldn't even imagine being in such a situation. No doubt, if she didn't make a choice the bastards would have taken both children.

pktrekgirl, it's nice to know that you concur with feaito with your choice of Barbara O'Neil in "All This, and Heaven Too". She was outstanding in the role which got her an Oscar nomination.

Not to forget bad mommies Anjelica Huston in "The Grifters", and Katharine Hepburn in "Suddenly, Last Summer".

How about Katharine Hepburn in "Suddenly Last Summer?" Talk about an enabler...and creepy to the nth degree! She wasn't much of a loving auntie either.
