What a handsome couple they make, Christy. You're lucky to have such a great photo of them.

My god, what a fantastic picture, Miss Applegate! I love the fact that you can tell the date by which movies were screening - I was guessing before I read what you wrote about the year. I would kill for that blouse your mom is wearing, and the little hat.

I'll second that ... I dig the old fashions and the charming scene of them walking down the streets ... But, most of all I love looking at old photos like these ... so nostalgia!

charliechaplinfan, Jackie, kingme, and Cinemaven: Thank you all for the comments. I am so happy that I still have that photo to share! I was very lucky to have them as parents. They were the fun party couple of the 50's.

Jackie, you are adorable! What an appropriate video!

My mother was a wonderful chef! Homemade biscuits, chocolate pie, coconut pie, pecan pie, perfect lemon meringues, spaghetti and meat balls, roast, BBQ ribs, fried chicken, chicken-fried steak, and what a vegetable cook! Yum! What would I wouldn't give for one of those delicious homemade feasts right about now!
Sincerely,
Christy

I think my mom must have been your mom's sister at heart - she was a great baker, french apple pie with the crumbly topping to die for (Ive tried to make homemade crust as flaky as hers, and let's just say that the pie crust gene did not get passed down), cheesecake, cinnamon coffee cakes, grasshopper pie, peach ice cream and peach pie, the best oatmeal raisin cookies I've ever had...and bread. All kinds of bread - wheat was the favorite, it smelled so good you just couldn't wait for it to come out of the oven, then you had to wait for it to be cool enough to cut.

Plus she made a killer spaghetti and meatballs - the recipe for which was supposedly passed to her from the Italian lady who lived down the street. mmmmm-mmm! It's frustrating to try and imitate it, I watched her so many times and still it never comes out right.

Jacks, I'll bet anyone who eats your spaghetti thinks it's wonderful! (they didn't taste Mom's, and yours is terrific!)
