I've probably said this ON THIS THREAD, but I'm a big Raiders fan. That pulsating beat drives me wild! "Good Thing," "Hungry," and its little known flip side, "There She Goes." A fast, swinging little number that defies category. Toe-tapping, multi-leveled music.

So true. I loved Mark Lindsay. (Yes I know he isn't Paul Revere). But those dancers were mighty clunky. Here's another good tune.

Gee...what makes these songs so infectious??? I just love 'em!

I hope I'm not just indulging in nostalgia,...

When I hear a contemporary band picking up on Muscle Shoals,
Stax, Hi and Goldwax (oh, and maybe Janis), I have to wonder
if I'm about to have a new favorite band of the moment...
ALABAMA SHAKES!

Nice posting of Levon Helm. I play drums for fun and one of the first instructional videos I purchased was this one. This was shot in his studio in upstate NY:

He got this inspiration when he finished making the 1957 Movie "Fire Down Below" with Rita Hayworth and Jack Lemmon. I have a copy of this record too. My step-grandfather gave it to me.

I'm such a Levon Helm fan, I've actually watched that video before, Arkadin. I'm no drummer, but it made me feel like one! He's fascinating.

I found a couple of older songs that are just fantastic, with Richard Manuel on vocals:

Andrew recorded this concert at the Mohegan Sun Cabaret here in CT. the date is November 2011. It's one of the last shows Helm did outside of the midnight rambles at his barn in upstate NY.
