Today in 1934: ‘It Happened One Night’ arrives in theaters.

Isn't Romantic Comedy redundant?

This was the movie that really turned me into a fan of the old classics. I'd already watched and enjoyed a few here and there, but this was how my obsession started. It still holds up so well.

It does hold up so well! This film captured my attention when I was about ten or eleven. My mother sat down with me and watched it and connented on Colbert and Gable and all the fashions of the day. 🥰

I saw Stan Laurel do the leg thing in Way Out West before I saw Claudette do it. It was much funnier once I knew what Stan was referring to. Always enjoyed this one. I think it is a unique romance. Love the “argument” in the motel room and the scene where Gable comes to get his expense money. Great fun.
