Is a nifty noir directed by Anthony Mann with Dennis O ' Keefe, Claire Trevor ( bad girl ), the gorgeous Marsha Hunt ( good girl ), and Raymond Burr as an especially repellent villian, who pre - dates Lee Marvin, in The Big Heat, in his nastiness toward women. John Ireland and Curt Conway also appear as Burr's henchmen.

Made all that much more memorable by John Alton's stunning cinematography!! And Claire Trevor, too!
