This okay western is playing on the Western Channel this month. Alan Ladd, Edmond O'Brien, and Virginia Mayo star as people focused on building a town to shorten the route for cattlemen to bring their herds to market. Of course there are the usual gun fights, the bad guy who tries to stop the building, the occurrences that involve the herds on the trail, and the little side story of the love interest between Ladd and Mayo. I'm glad she is O'Briens sister or we might have had a triangle. But seriously, this is a basic western with all the elements you want, including some good performances from Ladd and O'Brien (who never gives a bad performance). Mayo plays her usual "stand by your man", when shes not playing the bad girl. In all a typical western not two wasted hours, just comfortable good times. Just sit back and enjoy.

Re: The Big Land
I missed it the other night, I've never seen this one and am looking forward to it. I
really like the cast, to say the least.
