Our September Guest Star: Casey Lalonde

Postby Lzcutter » September 7th, 2010, 9:05 pm

Join us as we welcome Casey LaLonde, Joan Crawford's grandson, for a week-long conversation exclusively here at the Silver Screen Oasis beginning September 12th. Casey has had the honor of speaking with fans across the country to ensure his grandmother's legacy as a classic Hollywood icon. Most recently, Casey introduced and narrated the Joan Crawford Home Movie Collection for a standing room only crowd at the inaugural Turner Classic Movies Film Festival in April 2010. In addition to screening the Home Movies at the festival, Casey had the privilege of introducing Joan's film A Woman's Face with Melvyn Douglas' granddaughter, Illeana Douglas to a sold out crowd.

Casey has spoken before Joan Crawford fans at UCLA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, as well as The Castro Theatre in San Francisco. In November 2010, Casey is scheduled to screen and discuss the Home Movie Collection at the Rehoboth Beach Film Festival in Delaware.

No questions are off-limits. The conversation will be honest and unvarnished.

As always, Casey looks forward to discussing his grandmother's life and career with people as fascinated as he is with classic Hollywood.

So, mark your calendars. You won't want to miss this!

I am so excited that our "Lynn-on-the-spot" has been able to arrange this visit from Mr. LaLonde. I heard great things about Casey L. from all those lucky enough to have seen his presentation of A Woman's Face at the TCM film festival. There are so many phases of his grandmother's career to ask about, I hope that everyone who wants will participate.

Thanks so much for bringing this guest to our group. Btw, here is a transcript of Illeana Douglas and Casey LaLonde's on stage discussion of A Woman's Face at the TCM event last April.

I'm excited too.Not sure I'll know what to ask, I'll just be glad to go along for the ride.

Lynn, thank you so much for all your efforts preparing for this guest. I can't wait.

Seeing the home movies of Joan Crawford at the festival and listening to all of
Casey LaLonde's comments made it so interesting and informative. He is so
down-to-earth and matter-of-fact about all his memories and experiences, and I
feel that the SSO is so lucky to have you arrange for this wonderful guest!

And thanks for the great link to the film discussion with Ileana Douglas and
Casey LaLonde, Moira!

And we are, of course, grateful to Mr. LaLonde for spending time here with us at the SSO.

If you have a question(s) let one of us know and we'll ask it and you can enjoy it when you get back.

Thanks Moira and Chris,

Yes, I will try to come up with something to ask before I leave...who knows, maybe I'll luck out and be able to be somewhere I can participate while at training. From what I understand, though, my schedule will be pretty hectic while I'm there.
