Kingme, your bread pudding recipe sounds like something I should try for Easter!! Thanks. I will definitely try it out.

JF--YOU made me crave home-made chicken noodle soup, which I'm making tonight with a bit of ginger, a dash of sesame oil and garlic. You're right though, you can't make just a little soup, though I could probably live on soup if I had too. One of the most satisfying foods on earth.

CCfan--beetroot and apple with cider vinegar sounds wonderful! I have been daffy for braised red cabbage with apples and onions and balsamic vinegar for about a month! It is very cheap to make and scrumptious.

Growing up in a largely Polish neighborhood as a little shaver, the aroma of boilt cabbage was for me, literally, the way our lives smelled in the Winter - at least until the last week in February / first two weeks in March, when it gave way to the scents of fresh-caught, frying smelt, and the richness of evaporating maple sap, warring for dominance in the airs over the Connecticut River valley, in both Vermont & New Hampshire.

Does anyone have a recipe that they know is good for an Apricot Mustard glaze for ham? I need it for Easter. Thanks.

Kingme,

That porterhouse steak sounds great.

I like to BBQ the steak.

I boil the red potatoes first until they are just beginning to get soft.

Blanche them in cold, cold water.

Drain and mix the potatoes with olive oil and spices.

Pour into a baking dish and bake for an hour or until crisp.

Serve with a side of grilled asparagus and a lovely red wine.

For an appetizer, caprese on sourdough with a lingering hand of good olive oil.

Moira, you'll be amused to learn that Mrs. K just peeped your last suggestion over my shoulder, and opined that a smart hostess would keep me out on the back porch right through dessert . . . I'm feeling so tag-teamed right now . . :(

But on the subject of dessert . . I like flan . . :|

Those potatoes sound heavenly, Lynn. You'd better make extra. And I'll eat all of Klonny's portion of ham, Moira.

I don't have a good glaze recipe, but my mom used to make the most delicious raisin sauce to go with our ham on Easter.

The soups I make are usually for me, Libby will try then, Chris isn't much of a soup person but I have it for lunch and I always make too much, that's what a freezer is for, any vegetable that's on cheap becomes a soup. They're brilliant for filling me up, a great way of keeping weight down.

Libby is an extremely adventurous eater, Joe is the opposite, rarely do we eat the same meal, I make one meal for 3 of us and another for Joe. He has been getting better but it's a slow road, at least now when we go abroad he will eat more than bread and bananas.

I'm having to completely reassess my diet at the moment in lieu of the now confirmed ME diagnosis. It's pretty good anyway, I kick off every day with a bowl of hot porridge, lunch is usually soup, a yoghurt and a piece of fruit and the evening meal is usually something homemade. Well I've dug down into my diet a little more and have introduced ground almonds into the porridge, nuts as snacks, prunes, a couple of tins of tuna a week and some more oily fish.


Fish, I love fish but hubby hates it ands it's so expensive it seems too much of a luxury for one. So I've gone for anchiovies for pasta dishes and smoked mackerel, these aren't too epensive. Saying we're an island nation we have exptremely expensive fish.

MOira, I love my beetroot, apple and vinegar. Whilst drilling down into my diet I found out that beetroot is a superfood, good for many an ailment.

I love avocados too, another really expensive grocery.
