Hi Joe,
Eee-gad!!! Poor stupid Louella Parsons - she looks like a charging rhino with that feather sticking out on her head.....
And, judging from the blue ribbon on her chest, she's probably been voted "prize cow of Hollywood".....
Just everybody in Hollywood snickered & gossiped behind her back but kowtowed to her in front of her face - all kissy, kissy in her presence, but venom when she wasn't.
I must confess to you that Lana was the worst; she and I laughed at her (although I never knew Lollie); but Lana was always the first over at her home on birthdays and Christmas with a present. Such is Hollywood hypocracy.
I loved Lana dearly, but could have kicked her in the a-s-s inumerable times!!!
Larry

Re: *CANDIDS*
Oh - Frank Silvera. Another stupid household accident death: he was electrocuted while trying to fix his garbage disposal unit.
I had a brush with electrocution myself when I was a little girl. Take it from me -- it ain't pleasant. That was more than forty years ago, but I can remember how it felt much more clearly than I can remember the pains of unanesthetized childbirth a mere 24 years ago.
Poor Mr. Silvera.

Re: *CANDIDS*
Larry, it was actually a testimonial dinner for Louella with many of Hollywood's top stars in attendance (they knew better).
Here she is arriving with Rosalind Russsell in what appears to be the duel of the feathers.
Judith, it's a shame about Frank Silvera. I also had my share of shocks while growing up.

The first photo of Louella with Ladd behind her. I keep wondering - is there a long, dark, dangerous stairway with no handrails in front of her - that she may not see because of the flashbulbs? And where's Alan's other hand? It's not poised in the middle of her back, offering some top-heavy momentum for that very next step - is it?
Then I flash back to Phil Silver's road-scene out of MAD MAD WORLD, where the little boy has taken him "the other way out" and Phil Silvers is exclaiming, "Down THERE?!! DOWN THERE?!!" with that road disappearing into a near-cliffside descent into the river, only to float away. (And nearly drown poor Phil.)
