I can think of no nicer girl in a noir than Virginia Huston in Tourneur's seminal OUT OF THE PAST (1947). Particularly when viewed along with the dangerously duplicitous dames who bookend her performance: Jane Greer and Rhonda Fleming.

Huston was nice, but too boring. I can see why Mitchum went for Jane Greer. She'd keep a fella on his toes.
