at first glance it looks poor old Bela is playing dress-up (possibly in HIS mother's clothes....) I think those "shoes" are Mexican huraches, but the over all effect.....how do you do a wolf whistle here????

Yes, you're correct; the white over brindle color phase was immensely popular in Boxers in the 30's & 40's, but is quite rare now; the German Shepherd is from the Alsatian strain (the other two being Schutzhund & Shiloh), and was probably bred from stock in central Pennsylvania.

And BTW - how nice to see Mary Wickes . . small wonder that Pr. Klondike chose her for his personal assistant over at Classic Cinema College!

Underneath all that kohl-eyed makeup, Theda Bara was actually rather pretty.
And, thank Gawd she put more clothes on after she retired.
I remember seeing her once and she looked just like that last picture.

Larry, although Gloria Swanson would appear happy later on for Judy Holliday, I believe she thought that she had that Oscar in her pocket as Norma Desmond in "Sunset Blvd."
And I actually like the way that Theda Bara aged looking very much like the star she once was ala Norma Desmond.

As far as Bela Lugosi goes, the man had charisma.

Thank you for the correction, Ann Harding.
After further research it turns out it's director Charles Vidor with Jean Parker on the set of "Romance of the Redwoods". Ironically she worked with both directors.

Bela in T-Straps!! Hoo-Hoo! He had to be confident in his masculinity.

King Vidor was from Texas, but I'm glad he left because he made some great movies! That steely reserve in his eyes just shows he had visions of grandeur. (And a way with the ladies!)

Mongo, I feel that candid of those three particular stooges should be cherished by all of us, as it's the only adult photo grouping I've ever seen of the 3 stooges who were exclusively brothers to each other (born, in order of age, as Solomon, Moses & Jerome Horowitz).
And how naughty of you to tease my blood pressure with such a flirty pic of Brenda Marshall; I just might go down to the pub later & drink about it!
Cute shot, too, of Ronnie Ray-Gun & MM; almost look like he's about to quip: "So, been sleepin' with any Democrats lately?"

Is it only me who wonders how Theda got the 'bra' she was wearing to stay on? Did they use glue? It looks decidedly uncomfortable whatever was used.

I love all the pictures especially the one of Shirley McClaine and her daughter.
