Thanks for the nod to Edmond O'Brien, Joe.
I love the birthday boy's noir turns in The Killers, White Heat, 711 Ocean Drive, and DOA, but some of his other work is equally engaging. I'm particularly fond of Edmond O'Brien in a silly bit of fun called Obliging Young Lady (1942) in which Eddie repeats the sound of a train as"Heinie Manush" and the very serious and all too relevant Seven Days in May (1964), when the democracy's future hangs on O'Brien's character--who just happens to be a Southern senator with a fondness for John Barleycorn.

Thanks for your input Moira. O'Brien was indeed a dependable actor.

She should have had more leads, but she was a scene stealer as supporting cast, like in Maltese Falcon or Undercover Girl.
And Oscar nominated in 1936,for best actress in Valiant is the world for Carrie
