Re: *CANDIDS*
Thanks, Judith. Glad to hear that you were pleased with the birthday list today.
And Poncie Ponce was a kick on that show.

Re: *CANDIDS*
If one can imagine Paul Douglas' face on Victor McLaglen's torso, with Burt Lancaster's dark/chestnut complexion, that would be a close approximation of my Father's looks.

To follow-up on my suggestion of Cheeta as a Guest Host on TCM's The Essentials: Forget Cheeta's caretaker -- we want Johnny Sheffield!

Mongo:
Wasn't that the big 50th MGM anniversary where every star under contract to MGM was there for luncheon? It seemed like each table held about 20 people, and the tables, on risers, went up about 10 tables back. Even Lassie had her own table and dog bone.

Klonn - I think I would fall like a ton of bricks for your dad. I love all three stars. I think of the three, I like Paul Douglas the best. He's such a warm personality.
Re: *CANDIDS*
Klonnie's post about his dad got me thinking..Take the face of Fred Astaire, put it on the body of Don Knotts, and add the personality of Bob Hope ...that's my Pop! as the promo runs on TCM, ""What a character!"

He sounds great, knitty! I'd love to meet these dads - I'd love to see them for real, because in my mind's eye I have such great pictures of them!
Re: *CANDIDS*
Take the face of Andy Griffith, put it on the body of Andy Griffith, add to it the personality of character Andy Taylor, and that's my dad. He's the greatest.

My Father -- Desi Arnaz (in the early 1950s) all the way.
