Best and Worst Lines in Movie History
Re: Best and Worst Lines in Movie History
"If you were not my friend, I would not believe I exist."
There's considerable depth to that. The way one person substantiates another. I know. I know. Pop psychology says that's for weanies. But without our friends, what are we?

The ideal line for this thread?

.
Sorry but I have to laugh when I hear that line from The Pride of the Yankees. It's the one Maria Cooper gives the impression her father said, instead of Lou Gehrig.

Darn it, I forgot "THE BACHELOR & THE BOBBY SOXER" was coming on, but I did see the tail end of it the other night... starting from that wacky restaurant scene. I kind of loved the fact that ev'ryone had a one-liner. When the scene is carried on into the house it was funny having folks say their one-line and making with the quick exit. Wild! Cary Grant just seems like he was such a good sport to work with. "You want me to be silly? I'm your boy!" I miss his light touch.
Here are a few more favorites of mine whose delivery makes me laugh or whose statement is profound.
SHANGHAI EXPRESS
“It took more than one man to change my name to Shanghai Lily.”
Dietrich gave a marvelous performance in that film. I remember the wonderful conversation over at TCM-City about that film. Again it was another instance for me of reading a conversation that sparked me to watch a movie and appreciate it more.

EASY TO WED
“A-man-can-do-anything-a-baboon-can-do.”
I loved Van Johnson's delivery of that line. Yep, this is a re-make of one of my favorite 30's comedies "LIBELED
LADY" with the roles shown above played by Tracy, Harlow & Bill Powell. Lucy in this 1946 version was great. It
was filmed in Technicolor, and you know how redheads look in technicolor!!! Lucy was spectacular to look at, and
her comic timing...impeccable.

A truly splendid performer. He had so much fun, we can't help but enjoy it. "You remind me of a man!"
