*CANDIDS*
Re: *CANDIDS*
Thank you SueSue and Moira.
Moira, what a coincidence with Quine and Scott. I just happened to come across those images of Quine recently and decided to post them. What a shame.

I wonder why the writer did not include the fine MGM director George W. Hill (Tell it to the Marines, Min and Bill, The Big House), who was married to Frances Marion and died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.moirafinnie wrote:I agree about Spence and the Irish Setter. Seeing a young, casual Tracy in color makes him startlingly alive.
Joe, your photos of Richard Quine struck a chord with me today after reading about Tony Scott. Susan King of the LA Times wrote a piece in today's edition on five directors who also took their own lives. Quine was sadly among them.
Re: *CANDIDS*
Golly, dear Herbert Mundin was only 41when he died? He was so sweet as Munch in Robin Hood
Re: *CANDIDS*
Nancy, Mundin was a gem. Poor little fellow was killed in an automobile accident.
Over 400 people attended his funeral including many prominent stars.

Re: *CANDIDS*
Nice shot of Bill and Ardis. Wonder if that was the day following the Oscar ceremony, where, according to Bob Thomas, at the post-Oscar get-together at a friend's house Bill and the missus got into a terrible fight resulting in Bill getting loaded, going home and falling asleep, Oscar in hand, in the livingroom easy chair.
The reason for the fight: Ardis (Brenda) said to Bill that he really won the Oscar for the previous year's Sunset Boulevard and not so much for Stalag 17. Interestingly, the year before, when Bill lost the Oscar to Jose Ferrer, Ardis commented to her hubby that Jose deserved the award because he was so much better than Bill.
Ah, Hollywood bliss.

Stone, thanks for the additional info regarding the image of the Holden's. Very interesting.

You're more than welcome, Joe. From much of what I've heard the Holdens did not have the most supportive of marriages.
