I am in awe of that b & w photo of Ford with the big ship. Beautiful. Also that incredible footage behind the scenes of My Darling Clementine! Did you make that video timeline? I loved the score and how it was chronological.

I can't take credit for the video, it was made, I believe, by someone who shares their very impressive collection of photos at the dukewayne.com forums. I thought the combination of music and images was very well done. Seeing the color footage from My Darling Clementine is what I like most.

I loved that promo from TCM Francaise. Very well thought out, and gives an interesting slant on some of Ford's pictures I hadn't thought of as related to some of the others. I would never have related Grapes of Wrath with the westerns though of course now I see how they are.

That would be a collection worth having. The only weak film there is "Gideon..." I watched on TCM a few years ago and it was tedious and long.

I've never seen The Last Hurrah and its a long time since I have seen The Long Gray Line so that is really good news.

I wonder what the extras are going to be.

OMG! That's great! In spite of what you say, I'd lvoe to see Gideon.

tinker The Last Hurrah is really a wonderful film. You must see it! I know you'd get something out of it, you write so well about Ford, and your impressions would be wonderful to read as a first time viewer.

That description ("a special set of fully restored and remastered films never before released on DVD") is poorly written as both The Long Gray Line and The Last Hurrah have been released on DVD. I guess they mean none of these remastered versions have been released on DVD but they should make that more clear.

And now I'm going to double dip on Two Rode Together, as I will definitely be getting the Blu-ray when it comes out next year. (Triple dip, actually -- I have it on laser disc.) Hopefully The Long Gray Line will be an improvement over the old DVD which was not very good.

In a perfect world this set would be released in Blu-ray as well as DVD.

The title I'm really drooling over is Gideon of Scotland Yard, if only because of my massive crush on Jack Hawkins. :)

I concur, you must see The Last Hurrah. It was to have been Tracy's last film, which would have made the title doubly poignant.

It will be my first job when I get back from overseas to watch The Last Hurrah (I'm off to Vietnam and Cambodia on Wednesday).

Its really exciting to be able to look forward to a "new" John Ford film.

The extras look interesting. I always get curius about commentaries to hear the views. Some are better than others. I treasure the one with Dobe and peter Bogdonovich on Wagon Master.
