The Hope version is the better paced, but I do prefer the Red Haired Barbara Rhoads.

I love The Paleface mainly for the interaction between Hope and Jane Russell. She's one of my favorite of all his leading ladies. She just seems to overwhelm him, which I think plays off his nervous character beautifully.

Sorry Mr. Knotts, you had your moments in the business but you're not in Mr. Hope's league. Bob wins by a nose. In this case that would be a landslide!

The only bad movie is no movie at all.

So many westerns are similar to others, it's always the good guy vs. the bad guy, and the story lines are the same. It's the same as any contemporary movie and re-makes. Consider James Stewart and Audie Murphy in the role of Destry.

I have to go with cinemalover here, that Mr. Knotts is not the comedian that Mr. Hope is. I loved the landslide line!
