Paul Kelly (1899-1956), a good supporting actor, and an occasional leading man in B movies, specialized in tough guys over his long career, which began in 1911, when he was only a child. Later in life he had, as many know, more than an academic acquaintance with crime and punishment in his private life. Yesterday, The Los Angeles Times told the story of his fall and rise in a fascinating article:
