Oh, gee. Don't tell me that Sven coughed up for a movie he's never shown before?? Hallelujah. Sounds like a good time for a drinking game. Whenever anyone mentions "lycanthropy," I"ll be taking a sip of my lemonade.

I'm pretty sure it is the 1941 Film ... but I'm might be mistaken here.

Is this coming up in Svengoolie-land? He usually shows the Edgar G. Ulmer film. Who knows? It might be the later one!

The listing for the local outlet definitely says: 1941! Of course, it wouldn't be the first mistake about a movie. (I remember an announcement for Prince of Players that advertised it as "The story of the man who shot President Lincoln.")

Let's all hope they got it right this time.

Sadly, a real comedown for Lugosi who scored so magnificently in the '34 version oof THE BLACK CAT. It was as if Universal just wanted Lugosi to fulfill his contract and then be done with him. NIGHT MONSTER (though only the second of all of Lugosi's Universal features - not counting THE PHANTOM CREEPS serial - to allow him "star" billing) was another wasted '40s role for the actor.

Well, there was always Monogram . . .

So it's BLACK CAT time? Maybe I'll watch it!

Well R.R., expect a mystery more than a horror - though it is fun to watch Alan Ladd in an early tough guy role, and he does sport a memorable comic line at one point in the proceedings, directed at Broderick Crawford.

And, of course, there is the luscious Anne Gwynne.

Did not watch BLACK CAT due to ME-TV signal problems with my TV SET. My neighbor explained that to me today!

I only watched a little of it. Got immersed in THE ROOSEVELTS on PBS!

Me, too. Ken Burns never fails to amaze me.

That's what I watch instead ... like Western Guy said ... Ken Burns is a great of what he does - I loved his stuff!

So, THE MONSTER AND THE GIRL this weekend? is that right? I've probably seen this esteemed classic. But I sure don't remember it!

It's one of those crime/horror hybrids, like Karloff's THE WALKING DEAD and BLACK FRIDAY. Not a bad time-waster - plus you've got the benefit of George Zucco as a . . . not-quite-so-mad doctor.

Ridiculous, melodramatic and campy? I can't wait!

It is none of those things, Red. It's...it's...well, it's special.
