Separated at Birth?
While enjoying an episode of Frasier recently, it occurred to me for the umpteenth time that Kelsey Grammar and Curt Jurgens share more than a giant forehead. What do you think? Are there any other performers you think looked quite a bit alike?

Re: Separated at Birth?
Hi Moira,
Two favourites of mine - I think Kelsey Grammar is one of the finest actors in America; although his personal life is a shambles!!
Curt Jergens was apersonal friend of my grandmother and me. He was a great gentleman and had a beautiful voice.
The only time Nell ever visited Germany with me (she hated Germans) was when we visited Curt in Berlin in the 50's to see him in a play there.
He was Bavarian but became an Austrian after WWII....
Nell and I were also friends with his wife Judith; but he later married Eva Bartok, which didn't last long and turned out badly.
He was a charmer and the ladies all loved him!! Merle Oberon was ga-ga over him...
My choice for this thread are:
Richard Chamberlain and James Franciscus....
Larry

OK, I'll admit it -- when I saw the photo of Curt Jurgens, I thought it was Dick Cheney.
Fine actors, both.

I suspect that Jurgens--who had quite a reputation as a bit of a bon vivant--had ethical standards that were considerably higher. I know he was a better actor.ChiO wrote:OK, I'll admit it -- when I saw the photo of Curt Jurgens, I thought it was Dick Cheney.

I don't think I'd go that far. Fry is much too tall and back in his "Fry and Laurie" days he'd be too thin. I wonder if Laughton could have hoped to be as funny.stuart.uk wrote: Charles Laughton-Stephen Fry

I was thinking of the more mature heavier Stephen Fry. I'll try and find a link

I am intrigued by your comparison of Gordon Jackson and Glenn Close, Stuart. I think I see what you mean when I think of their coloring and jawlines. It is most amusing to think of such different actors looking alike.

Stuart:
No doubt. I recently watched Fry's show where he travels through America in his London taxi. (He thought it would be a good idea since he was almost born in New Jersey.) Certainly heavier than the early days but still as funny.

Re: Separated at Birth?
I see quite a resemblance between AM and Deborah Kerr, always have, maybe due to their common scottish heritage:
Re: Separated at Birth?
Charlton Heston and Bradford Dillman
Richard Long and Gig Young
Dick and Jerry Van Dyke, but that's different!
There's a character actor who looks a lot like George Raft, but I can never remember his name. He's in practically everything, often plays policemen. Never the main character. I just can't name the man.

And of course, there's Tyrone Power and Larry Fine. I flat-out can't tell them apart!

I can readily see Richard Long and Gig Young's similarities. I always thought that Deborah Kerr looked very much like Beatrice Campbell, another Scottish beauty:

Now here, I know exactly the actor that you mean. I can see his face but can't think of one film he's in. I see him, Red.There's a character actor who looks a lot like George Raft, but I can never remember his name. He's in practically everything, often plays policemen. Never the main character. Here would be my choice:
ROYAL DANO & BUDDY EBSEN.

This is infuriating! I'm not even thinking of Robert Shayne, the inspector in the Superman show. He is very much the same type. Even looks a little like the other two actors. But that's not who I'm thinking of.
