Dargo wrote: February 12th, 2024, 3:34 pm Great game, and just as I had predicted to a friend, with the stumbles of one team's Special Team play (the Niners' in this case) having a major effect upon the game's final score.

(...to recap in this regard: the Niners failing to secure that one punt return which immediately lead to that KC touchdown, and their early in the game blocked extra-point attempt which then led to KC only having to kick that last second field goal in regulation in order to send the game into OT)
That extra point glitch was such a shame, Dargo: The 49ers did an admirable job of mostly containing the Chiefs until Patrick Mahomes caught fire on the last series of downs.
Yep, the Niners' excellent defense of Mahomes in the first half reminded me a lot of how the then Tom Brady-led Buccaneers defensed him during the blowout of SB LIV of a few years back.

However, I always had a feeling that Mahomes was not going to be held in-check like that during this year's entire game.

(...and why as I also said the other day that even though I'd be kind'a sort'a rooting for the Niners, I still felt KC would prevail)

That yapper makes a lot of bread and butter.

I didn't watch the game because I already had Chiefs fatigue. I was watching TCM and between
the two movies I caught the last five minutes of OT. Must have been a good game. Got to make
those PATs.

Hard to figure the hoi polloi.

I just read of the following athlete's passing:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/101 ... owl-12-win

Interestingly, Golden Richards is said to have worn Dallas Cowboys star Bob Hayes' #22 while attending BYU for his speed and would later supplant Hayes as the fastest Cowboy!!

If AZ beats Philly in game 7, that would be something.

James Jazz Guitar. How you making out man? I was listening to some Jimi Hendrix the other day, and I thought about you. Let’s see, yeah the song was Hey Joe. He wrote that song, no?

Laffite, he’s a big sports fan, and old as all get out I would guess. How you making out, Laffite? The Texas Rangers sure made a name for themselves last season. Bochy and Maddux make a good duo.

It's a good year for NY sports teams. The NY Rangers are on to the next round of Stanley Cup Playoffs in hockey.

In basketball, the NY Knicks could move on if they beat the Indiana Pacers on Sunday.

Hendrix did not write the song: "The authorship of the song has been contested, and different recordings have credited its writing to either Billy Roberts or Dino Valenti, or have listed it as a traditional song. "Hey Joe" was registered for copyright in the US in 1962 by Billy Roberts, a California-based folk musician."

The song has a simple chord progression since each chord is a 5th away: C, G, D, A, E. Thus cycle of 5th, makes it a cool song to solo over endlessly!

Wow, didn’t know any of that. Thanks. I also like a lot the Willy DeVille version, with the Spanish thing going on.

Oh wait, I remember now. Some folks are sticklers for staying on topic. Jimi and Willy are not really sports figures, but I have a feeling the two wouldn’t mind a bit if they were made sport of.

Well my L.A. Dodgers are playing good but their travel schedule is messed up. I.e. they play a few home games than have to go back east for a few games, then to the mid-west for a few more than back east, then back west. Oh, well, that is just how it is now with interleague play; more back and forth travel.

The interleague play goes against my grain too, JJ, They shouldn’t even have a National league and an American League. What’s the difference? Same with football I guess. But I Love baseball, all baseball fans Love baseball. It’s the rhythm of the game. I do like a lot of the new rules. I don’t like the phantom runner on second in extra innings. Seems like cheating. How do you score that should the runner score?
