Wish just once they would duplicate their "Movie Night" experience with a full slate of programming from the studio era: newsreel, short subject, cartoon, B picture, A picture...

Re: Coming up on TCM...
Enjoyed THE PREVIEW MURDER MYSTERY but less than halfway through figured out who was the killer. Ian Keith (terrific in NIGHTMARE ALLEY) seems to get shortchanged by hosts -- he is never mentioned. Interesting how director Robert Florey kept showing his character (one of the suspects) in profile.

Re: Coming up on TCM...
Full confession. I forgot about the disability theme this month, and did not know they made a silent film called Deliverance about Helen Keller. When I first saw that Deliverance was on tomorrow night, I mistook it for the infamous 1972 film and wondered what on earth it had in common with City Lights

Re: Coming up on TCM...
I was fascinated by DELIVERANCE. Just at the point where the film was going overboard about portraying Helen as some sort of supernatural being, they introduced a welcome segment showing Keller not just as a role model but a very real woman yearning for romantic love and physical intimacy (i.e. sex). Tying her story with propaganda for America's entry into WWI was of-its-time floridly tortuous; also the Nadja character counterpoint seemed unnecessary and rather confusing.

My only reaction is suspicion when a celebrity tweets promos.
I think TCM tries recreating the theater experience with travelogues & short "fillers" between feature movies.
Agreed, it's much better with appropriate time period newsreels & cartoons, but we're just fortunate the time slots aren't filled with COMMERCIALS.

Re: Coming up on TCM...
There are several errors in the TCM online schedule for Sunday evening.
The following should be close to the real schedule.
Silent Sunday Nights is showing 3 Harold Lloyd shorts so these times are approximate.
(They normally just run them back-to-back and don't try to start them exactly on the half-hour.)
TCM Imports is showing Daisies (1966) and Something Different (1963) starting at 2:30 AM.
(Times listed are Eastern.)
SUNDAY Jul 30
- TCM PRIMETIME: DISABILITY
2023-07-30 08:00 PM drama Coming Home (1978) 128m
2023-07-30 10:30 PM comedy Being There (1979) 130m
- SILENT SUNDAY NIGHTS: HAROLD LLOYD
2023-07-31 01:00 AM silent Number, Please? (1920) 25m
2023-07-31 01:30 AM silent High and Dizzy (1920) 26m
2023-07-31 02:00 AM silent Get Out and Get Under (1920) 25m
- TCM IMPORTS: CZECHOSLOVAKIA
2023-07-31 02:30 AM comedy Daisies (1966) 74m
2023-07-31 04:00 AM drama Something Different (1963) 85m
2023-07-31 05:30 AM docu MGM Parade Show #6 (1955) 25m
I hope everyone is able to use the schedules I post on my web page.
I try to resolve all the errors in what I post there.

Re: Coming up on TCM...
Airing at 12 AM Eastern on Saturday morning September 23, 2023 is Peter Bogdanovich's THE LAST PICTURE SHOW --- probably one if the best American movies of all-time.
Adapted from Larry McMurtry's novel by McMurtry and Bogdanovich, the movie features Oscar-winning performances by Cloris Leachman and Ben Johnson as well as Oscar-nominated performances by Ellen Burstyn and Jeff Bridges.
