Especially Woody Strode. Never a star, really.
Ah, but the quest was of two great ACTORS. Not "stars". There usually is a difference between the two. If you want, replace Strode with Marvin, or Trade Marvin for Strother Martin or Lee Van Cleef, or put Qualen in there somewhere. ;)

It is often useful to review the initial post related to a thread like this: "Sometimes there are two equally talented and popular actors paired together in a film. It is sometimes hard to figure out who is the lead since the story is shared equally by both. What are some of your favorites?"

Of course, one doesn't have to following the criteria as established by the OP.

They weren't both big at the time - only one was (because of The Graduate) - but they were sure both big after this came out and got them both Oscar nominated. And - they were the whole show in this.

Watched a couple of westerns last night on the Movies! channel.

The first was Broken Arrow (1950, and filmed right here in Sedona AZ) with Jimmy Stewart and Jeff Chandler.

The second was Broken Lance (1954) with Spencer Tracy and Richard Widmark...although it also starred some young fresh-faced kid named Robert Wagner.

LOL

Yeah, it was. And in fact, the third western they showed was a real turkey that featured a young Jack Nicholson and was titled "The Broken Land" (1962).

(...could only take about 20 minutes of it before turning it off...the direction especially was horrible...it has an IMDb rating of "5.1")
