I only remember the Ropers, Norman Fell and Audra Lindley.
Of course I got help from IMDb for that.

I'm definitely Team Furley rather than Team Roper.

My favorite episodes of THREE'S COMPANY are the ones with Don Knotts (Mr. Furley) and Suzanne Sommers (Chrissy), but it was really John Ritter as Jack Tripper who made the show what it was. The great Lucille Ball was a fan.

For those who have never seen an episode of THREE''S COMPANY, I recommend the Season 5 opener "Upstairs, Downstairs, Upstairs."

I've just started watching Columbo on Great American Family.
Christmas in July will change that, but just like Matlock, I didn't watch some shows when they were new.
I think the Matlock reboot is a bit silly.
As for Kathy Bates, I think she would make a better Columbo.

Holy cow! Can you believe administration really deleted that polka lyric?

Is Kathy Bates actually in here somewhere??

There's definitely a comic sensibility (there's an ALL McBEAL vibe), but the new MATLOCK looks good to me. I've never seen an entire episode of the original series (which I bet was more serious in tone).

Here's the full trailer from CBS:

I love the end of the trailer with the music from Matlock (the original) and the reference to Angela Lansbury.
Someone's too young. I watched the trailer a second time and got more from it. The lady is calling her Angela Lansbury.
I will kick my comment below up a notch. Kathy will knock 'em dead.
Ben Matlock's age came into play on occasion. As for comedy, the video I previously posted here, talked about Les (Ace) Calhoun not being a good fit. That being Don Knotts, who's humor worked before but not so much in Matlock.
We're even Holden, as I've never seen Ally McBeal.
I don't care for the elderly, not able to keep up, image suggested by the trailer.
I'm guessing Kathy Bates will kick butt and take names. Pretty sure. Mark my words.
I can't suggest an episode of Matlock to watch. For me they are all good.
It is very different and is not meant to be compared.

OMG! I answered this post of yours, explaining exactly what went on to you - and that post was deleted - presumably by the same moderator who censored the word "fat".!!

Not just that - but now I've been issued a "board warning" - this happened at about 5 am this morning.

What the hell is the deal here??

Why am I not allowed to use the word "fat"? Why a board warning for using it?

Can you please explain?

Perhaps it might be because it's well-known around here that Lomm just can't stand Polka music.

Guess you must've missed that "Lawrence Welk" thread that someone started awhile back around here, eh?!

(...boy, I tell ya...I've NEVER seen Lomm so worked up!!!)

LOL

Fortunately, I have a copy of the post I made to you last night that was deleted. I've sent it to you via PM.

I'm hopeful that you will, understandably, see that the "board warning" is rescinded.

Nope, that's true, alright!

And, he ALSO wasn't known for bein' all that hip or quick on the ol' uptake either.

Like for instance that time after a couple of his fresh-faced singers did their rendition of Brewer & Shipley's "One Toke over the Line", he made the comment, "There you had a modern spiritual by Dale and Gayle!"

(...I still LOL everytime I think of this)

I'd say only in the same way 'Die Hard' could be considered a "Christmas movie", anyway.

No, "Died hard at (or in) a Christmas movie" would be Gene Kelly in 'Christmas Holiday', and when at the end of the picture he's gunned down by the cops while trying to get at his ex-wife after breaking out of prison.

(...one of the few movies in which Kelly played a bad guy)
